Skype for Mac was updated to version 7.13 to support the most recent release of OS X, El Capitan, and add a couple of useful new features.
For users of Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9.5 latest available version should have stayed Skype 7.36.217 for Mac OS X. However, as it turned out, in that version there are a couple of problems with the connection, and the developers have released a minor release of Skype 7.36.507 for Mac OS X, which fixes them. All you need to get started is Mac OS X 10.6 or above, a webcam for video calls and a microphone. To get the latest Skype for Mac (version 7+), you'll need Mac OS X 10.9 or above.

Similar to Snap View on Windows, Split View allows users to more easily multitask and split their screen between more than one window. Skype for Mac also received some new features that make it easier to find friends to chat with. The Mac client now comes with the ability to easily add contacts from your Mac or other address books, as well as the ability to verify your mobile number so people can more easily find your Skype profile.
